Growing old is inevitable; growing up is a choice.

As I sit here, in my room alone, surrounded by only my Doctor Who posters, I realise that I'm growing up.

I'm sixteen years of age and it's truly a funny age to be. I'm stuck between being both a child and an adult, yet I feel like neither. I've just closed one window of my life, having just left school, only to open a door which is a gateway to the world outside. I'm just getting ready to travel down the next sharp turn in the path of life: sixth form. It's scary, those two words, 'sixth form'. It makes me sound incredibly grown up yet, at the very same time, it makes me appear so childlike. I had only realised how childish I must seem to those older than me when I happened to do a spot of work experience at a primary school. Despite working with children aged four to five, and clearly I was not the youngest there, I couldn't help but to feel like a child. I'm convinced the adults - the real teachers - looked down on me, just for my age alone, and it definitely showed that I was feeling a little uncomfortable in the staff room. It's a strange feeling, I must admit. I hadn't expected being a teenager to be this... hard.

I understand this age is an incredibly confusing one and now I want to help others who are vastly approaching the wonderful age of sixteen. That's why I created this blog, dearest readers. I want to give not only people of my age, but those both older and younger, a true insight into what it's really like being sixteen. I will blog about my life, school, and general happenings. I can't guarantee I will be surrounded by drama, like those teenagers portrayed in TV shows such as Skins, but I will make sure to blog about whatever happens in my life which happens to be of some interest.

And, on that note, I must apologise for not formally introducing myself and instead rambling on about age. I'm Chloe, as you may be able to see in the short description situated on my sidebar. I come from Essex, England, but I would much rather be in the glorious and magical New York City. I believe that, in the future, I will live there. I had the chance to visit for the second time in February, as a birthday present, and it truly felt like a second home to me. Perhaps I shall explore my New York trip, as well as my future aspirations, in another blog post. Currently, I live at home with both my mother and father, as well as two younger siblings. Like any siblings, we do have occasional arguments, but they are both an incredibly important part in my life.

While we're on the topic of important people, I suppose I should mention my friends. While I do have many friends away from the internet, I find that speaking to people online helps me due to my introverted personality, filled with insecurities and shyness. Before I start rambling again, I will introduce a very special group of people to you, who I'm sure I will mention an awful lot in my blog posts. They go by the name of the Time Girls and despite initially bonding over a shared interest of  Doctor Who (which is another thing you will hear of frequently as I blog), they have become so much more than that. They've become family to me. One in particular is incredible, she really is. Her name is Ayesha and I consider her to be my best friend. She's magical, really. If you have ever had the opportunity to even speak to her, then you will see why I adore her so much.

Looking back on this introductory post, I realise it is starting to become rather lengthy. So, I shall draw this to a conclusion. Thank you, darling readers, for both glancing upon my blog and reading this post. I hope you decide to subscribe to my blog and follow my adventures in life,

Chloe, xo.
